REFULSIT (pronounced reh-FULL-sit) is a hard techno project with a Christian heart. The name is Latin for “a light shone” – from the night in Acts 12, when a light filled Peter’s prison cell and the chains fell from his hands. REFULSIT takes that night into the warehouse. Distorted kicks, rumble, acid and rave stabs carry one message: the light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome it.
REFULSIT (gesprochen „re-FUL-sit“) ist ein Hard-Techno-Projekt mit christlichem Herzen. Der Name ist Latein für „ein Licht strahlte auf“ – aus der Nacht in Apostelgeschichte 12, als ein Licht die Gefängniszelle des Petrus erfüllte und ihm die Ketten von den Händen fielen. REFULSIT trägt diese Nacht in die Lagerhalle. Verzerrte Kicks, Rumble, Acid und Rave-Stabs tragen eine Botschaft: Das Licht scheint in der Finsternis, und die Finsternis hat es nicht überwältigt.
The nameDer Name
Refulsit is Latin, the past tense of refulgere – to shine out, to flash back. The word stands in the Latin Bible (Vulgate), Acts 12:7:

Peter lies in prison on the night before his execution, bound with two chains between two soldiers, with guards before the door (Acts 12:6). An angel comes in, a light shines in the cell, the chains fall from his hands, and the iron gate opens of its own accord (Acts 12:7–10).
Petrus liegt in der Nacht vor seiner Hinrichtung im Gefängnis, gebunden mit zwei Ketten zwischen zwei Soldaten, Wachen vor der Tür (Apg 12,6). Ein Engel tritt ein, ein Licht strahlt in der Zelle auf, die Ketten fallen ihm von den Händen, und das eiserne Tor öffnet sich von selbst (Apg 12,7–10).
The album is that one night, and REFULSIT is exactly that moment: a closed, dark room, a light that shines up – and what holds you falls away. In the club the strobe in the drop is the light in the cell.

The soundDer Sound
The sound is unmistakably now: distorted kicks with a tonal tail, rumble and a clean mono sub, rave stabs, acid lines and chopped gospel vocals buried deep in the reverb – like a choir heard through a concrete wall. The message is older than the genre: Jesus is the light that breaks through the darkness.

The debut album LIGHT BREAKS THROUGH traces the arc of the whole Bible in eighteen tracks, from “Let there be light” in Genesis to the blessing in the very last verse of Revelation. Every track is anchored in one verse and carries its own color from a stained-glass palette of gold, ruby, cobalt and clear light.
